2015 DEV Korea Discovery Accelerator Program Kicks Off

Participants Begin 1 Month Journey Navigating U.S. Startup Scene

The 2015 DEV Korea Discovery Accelerator
program officially began last week, as the DEV team invited the founders from their most recent eight Korean investments to New York for a month of intensive training and acceleration designed to get the Korean companies up-to-speed on U.S. business culture and entrepreneurship.

Representatives from Korea-based startups Tackl, Super !dea, Gamecoach, Gluvi, Crowd Sourced Story, MtoV, Coco Apps, and Snapberry, which all received investment from DEV this year, have already in their first week had the opportunity to hear from industry experts and begin working on their pitch for the August New York Tech Meetup and DEV Korea’s Demo Day.

In addition to an introductory session, in which company representatives introduced themselves and their products to the DEV team, the past week saw speakers discuss the
U.S. venture capital landscape and intellectual property issues in the United States, both important topics for any company seeking to expand its presence in America. And with exciting speakers such as Rachel Szporn of L’Occitane en Provence still to present to the DEV Korea cohort, it’s sure to be an educational and insightful summer for all our participants.

In addition to helping these Korean companies establish a presence in the United States, one of the goals of the program is to fine tune and perfect each company’s pitch, particularly for the U.S. market and U.S. investors. To that end, the representatives are attending classes at General Assembly, will work to create a professional video introducing and explaining their business, and will ultimately show off their final product at DEV Korea Discovery Demo Day at the Microsoft Technology Center on August 5th.
